About this blog

This blog will document my journey of playing on the Golf Channel AmTour. The highs and lows, trials and tribulations, the heartache and achievements. The AmTour is open to all levels of amateurs. This blog is also an attempt to inspire others to chase THEIR dreams no matter their age.
So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"

Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.

Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Early 2012

So living in Chicago during the winter months, not much golfing going on.  Thanks to the people at Top Golf providing a year round golfing experience.  Top Golf is more than just an ordinary driving range.  Top Golf contains real golf balls containing micro chips, electronic targets, computer screens at the bay, and dual heaters, I was able to practice all year around.  Yep even in Chicago.  And yes I was out there in 15 degree weather.  My wife questioned my sanity.  So with my yearly dedication renewal and all the progress made in 2011, I was excited to face the upcoming golf season.

Damn there were some cold days.  The first of the year was great we were playing golf the first weekend in January for the first time ever.  And our "passion" our weighed our sanity.  Hey that is why they may winter golf gloves and winter golf hats...Right?  Anyway, the Chicago winter finally did come and put a halt to our season.  We spent the next few months counting the days to mid-March when it was "normal" to start playing again.  Most of us spent time at our favorite cigar shop, Habana Cigar House, which is locally owned and operated by some of the finest people I know, watching golf on the weekends and critiquing the Pros, as if right, and placing cigar bets on our favorite golfers.  Poor Joe Payne, always taking Left, needless to say a few of us enjoyed many a Joe bought cigar.  It is amazing how much BETTER a cigar smokes when it is won from a bet. LOL.

All of us chomping at the bit for the up comin season.....
