About this blog

This blog will document my journey of playing on the Golf Channel AmTour. The highs and lows, trials and tribulations, the heartache and achievements. The AmTour is open to all levels of amateurs. This blog is also an attempt to inspire others to chase THEIR dreams no matter their age.
So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"

Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.

Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Course Management Success vs. Diaster

When you are preparing for your round of golf, what are you thinking?
As you are on the driving range what are you thinking about?
Are you thinking and saying, "I cannt hit this driver."  or "Man I just cannt hit this 7 iron."  Keep this in mind.

"Most players prepare for disaster…a good player prepares for success." -Bob Toski

To many people play ego golf.  The goal in golf is get the ball in the hole.

Or when you are on the short game area you keep saying, "I cannt hit a chip."

I am not some psychological guru, but the simple truth is your subconscious doesnt understand sarcasim.  Golf is so much about positive thoughts, confidence, and execution.

Next time you are out playing golf try this, and take a lesson from US Open Champion Billy Casper.  Who layed up to the par 3 every round.

Instead tell yourself, "When I hit this driver, I will drive it down the middle."

Next time you find yourself in the fairway 220 yards out on that daunting par 4, or next time you are on the tee box of a 185 yard Par 3, DONT hit the 3wood, instead hit your 150 club. What will that get you?  First of all you wont hit the green, duh, but better still you have taken the greenside bunkers OUT OF PLAY and more than likely you realized your 150 club would not make the green and you relaxed and just hit the ball.  And to your surprise you hit it well and straight.  Now your faced with an easy pitch with a 9 iron or PW without any obstacles in front of you.  And now you can still par the hole and at worst bogey, and prevented the big number and had MORE FUN.

But most importantly, you can watch and laugh at your golf buddies going from bunker to bunker and cause they are so exasburated they miss that 3 foot putt and post a triple bogey.  And now you gain that notch of confidence as you approach the next tee box.
