The Big Easy Classic

Yesterday was the first tournament I played in almost two months.  It was a cool morning as I made my way to the driving range.  Making my way I ran into several buddies I haven't seen in a couple months and we exchanged a few barbs and friendly competitive banter.  The warm up session usually starts with the short game area to get the ole bones and muscles ready to start moving.  Then making my way over to the driving range and start going through the warm up routine.  The main purpose of the routine is to find rhythm and tempo.  After completing the session I was feeling good and confident.  Making my way to the practice putting green and found my putting pace.  All signs pointing in the right direction.  At the first tee, following player greetings and announcement, the tournament director introduced and announced our names as we teed off.

Back in the Saddle

The self imposed month long break is over, time to jump back into the golfing saddle.  The first practice session on the range went surprising well.  Sure there was some rust that needed knocked off, but my session exceeded my expectations.  I focused on tempo, rhythm, and swing path.  During my static practice with a coat hanger, I noticed my path was still to upright so I really worked on flattening out the path.  I saw this drill on Golf Channel Golf Academy.  Focusing on the hook of the hanger fold into your elbow going back and on follow through.  Feel is such an important factor when it comes to the swing.  Many people become to mechanical and rigid.  Look at most of those on tour, the only consistent measure is the hitting zone.

A Very New Beginning

Wow don't really even know where to begin, so I will begin again.  Looking at my last post it has been quite some time since I posted.  A whole year has come and gone.  A year filled with many ups and downs, but I keep trying to fall forward.  I won't bore or dwell on all 2014 details.  Suffice it to say 2014 brought me to serious crossroads of life and I have done and made choices that I believe are best.  But enough of all that, this is a golf blog right?  That it is, as well as a chronicle of my journey and what a journey it has been so far.  I have learned and relearned many things about myself over the last year.  Words such as determination, perseverance, anguish, and heart ache come to mind.
