The self imposed month long break is over, time to jump back into the golfing saddle. The first practice session on the range went surprising well. Sure there was some rust that needed knocked off, but my session exceeded my expectations. I focused on tempo, rhythm, and swing path. During my static practice with a coat hanger, I noticed my path was still to upright so I really worked on flattening out the path. I saw this drill on Golf Channel Golf Academy. Focusing on the hook of the hanger fold into your elbow going back and on follow through. Feel is such an important factor when it comes to the swing. Many people become to mechanical and rigid. Look at most of those on tour, the only consistent measure is the hitting zone.
Next time you practice try this:
start with 9i and swing 25% focusing on extending the club through the hitting zone until your arms are extended. then 50% then 75% then finally 100%.
Repeat with 7i
On the range never worry about distance, focus entirely on ball flight. Golf is one of those games where results are not always a measure of how well or how poor the ball was struck. So instead of measuring the quality of your shot by the end result, measure the quality of your shot by ball flight. Was it well stuck? Did you hear the "click?" The good and bad breaks come and go and the only thing a golfer can control is HOW the ball is struck. Change your focus for a more positive and enjoyable round.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"
Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.
Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
