About this blog

This blog will document my journey of playing on the Golf Channel AmTour. The highs and lows, trials and tribulations, the heartache and achievements. The AmTour is open to all levels of amateurs. This blog is also an attempt to inspire others to chase THEIR dreams no matter their age.
So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"

Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.

Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

New Beginings

As this year's Sr National Championships at Innisbrook,  where the PGA competes in  the Valspar Championship each March, get underway Monday 9/19, I am sitting in my living room with a heavy heart missing the action.  True I love to compete, but what I miss the most is the opportunity to compete against and with my fellow golf junkies.  I miss the competition, the comradery, the stories we tell for the umpteenth time.  The laughs, the highs and lows of the season, all the crazy shots made and missed, and yes even those 1 stroke what if or only if loses.  Golf is a unique game.  It is one that is played and shared.  And only those who play can fully appreciate the emotional roller coaster competitors face.

As one of last year's National Champions, this was my time to bask in the sun for one last time, but unfortunately, the universe saw fit for me not to attend.  And in true form, my friends have sent pictures and well wishes.  Pictures of my media poster and pictures of me of last years video replay.  My opportunity to rub elbows with celebs from the Golf Channel and the like.  SO, here I am, home missing the festivities.  Wishing all my fellow competitors well and best of luck, because make no mistake about it, to win a National Championship of any kind you need a few good breaks and capitalize on those breaks.

As I am about to close the book on the 2015-2016 season, filled with such promise, yet none of my goals accomplished.  I reflect on what went right and wrong.  I reset my goals for the 2016-2017 season with renewed optimism.  And a shout out to all my friends and competitors, I will be watching the leader board this week, hoping that one can share in what is one of my greatest accomplishments...being a National Champion.

ps.
What I will truly miss the most?  The butterflies as I approach the first tee each day waiting in anticipation to hear my name called on the first tee.  Knowing this is not the PGA Tour, but it is OUR Tour and I am a National Champion.

Best of luck fellas....I'm rooting for you.
