Recently I was able to travel to Chicago and see my friends, hangout watch some golf, and smoke a few cigars; reminence about old times and times to come.
My leg injuy has begun to feel so much better and with golf tournament season fastly approaching, the need to practice and hit the driving range is growing paramount. I was able to visit my favorite driving range, Top Golf. The best way to describe Top Golf is it much like a golf bowling alley.
To make a long story short, I was able to spend some time hitting balls with some friends, over a two day period I hit about 500 balls. Boy I was sore and tired the next day, but man did it feel good to get some quality practice time. Top Golf is so much more than a driving range. Basically there is a mircochip in your golf ball and you hit to one of several targets and a computer display at your bay shows you the distance and proxmitity to the hole and then awards point value based on proximity.
So with targets at approximately 25, 60, and 90 yards, I was able to work on my short game and some refine my technique. There is a center ring at each target range, so I focused on flying the ball to that spot. My hope is this will assist me to be more aggressive around the green.
Hanging around the cigar store watching the golf tournament was like stepping back in time. This is how men were meant to be. Guys hanging, cutting up, and busting each other's balls and exaggerating old stories. It was so good to catchup with everyone. I won't see any of them until this year's golf trip to Swan Lake in Plymouth Indiana, our annual guys and golf outing.

So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.
"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"
Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.
Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
