About this blog

This blog will document my journey of playing on the Golf Channel AmTour. The highs and lows, trials and tribulations, the heartache and achievements. The AmTour is open to all levels of amateurs. This blog is also an attempt to inspire others to chase THEIR dreams no matter their age.
So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"

Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.

Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

March Madness Tourney

As the country gears itself up for NCAA March Madness basketball, I find myself heading to Panama City Beach for only my second tournament this season.  The tournament is held at Bay Point Resort which is a Jack Nickalus design.  My leg and back injury had cleared up enough to allow me some practice and I felt somewhat prepared.  My brother and his family lives in the area and I had played the course about a year ago.
The weather looked like it would rain so the day would be interesting.  I made my way to the driving range to begin my warm up routine and felt good about my warm up session.  Now this is not the time to be working on technique, it is about finding my rhythm.  Made my way to the short game area and then the putting green to complete my warmup.  The second hole was the closest to the pin hole The hole was a 179 Par 3.  I pulled a 6 iron and I hit my tee shot thin however the ball came to rest about 3 feet to the hole, made the birdie putt and felt good that I would capture the money.  So as the round progressed there were a couple of strokes I left on the course but all in all I felt good about my round all things considering.  After a couple of birdies and a couple of loose shots I found myself on the 18th tee box with a birdie to win.  Then it started raining like hell and I rushed my tee shot and it found the water.  So hitting three off the tee box i push it right.  Facing a 6 iron shot in the rain to salvage the round.  Low and behold I didnt see the water in front of the green and hit a second shot into the water and finally carded an 8.  Needless to say destroyed the round.

Lesson learned
Take each shot as they come and maintain focus.

Next tournament in a couple of weeks in Orlando, a two day major.
