Today was my first lesson with my new golf coach, Sammy Hanson. I am very excited about my renewed commitment. With the several distractors finally completed, all my focus and energy is about golf and improving my game and physical conditioning.
Our first lesson today consisted on my take away. Sammy has me moving closer to the ball about half a step which allows me to keep my hands closer to my body during the take away. Thereby putting me in a better position at the top. We also worked on dropping the club in the downswing to improve consistency. If today is any indication, I hit some 5 irons and gap wedges better then I had in a long time and when I executed properly I added about 10-15 yards.
We are putting together a complete plan to include driving, short game, and putting. The new club position should translate to all aspects of my game. So we fix this one issue should pay dividends in other areas. Since I am playing a tournament Sunday, we were careful not to make any radical or over aggressive changes. I am very encouraged and excited to take my game to the next level and in line with my big goals for this year and I am confident Sammy will help me achieve them.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"
Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.
Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
