Today's tournament was played on the Championship Course at The Golf Club of Houston, where the Shell Houston Open is held the week before The Master's. https://thegolfchannel.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/thegolfchannel16/event/thegolfchannel1688/index.htm
This was my first tournament after being promoted to the Senior Palmer flight (hcp 4-8). After nursing my knee injury for the past 6+ weeks, I felt I was ready to give my knee a test. I have been working with my new swing coach attempting to correct and few things and it was time to take it to the course in competition.
It was a beautiful day in Houston, about as perfect a day as possible for mid-February. The high was in the mid-60's, slightly overcast, and a mild breeze. Warming up on the range, I was working hard to ingrain the new information I have been working on, all signs were pointing in the right direction. I approached the first tee, made my introductions to my fellow competitors, and received additional instructions from the starter. I striped my drive down the middle and we were off and running.
I had a tough time getting started and feeling like I was in the round, missing putts will do that to you. As the round progressed, my poor putting performance made it difficult to card a good score. There were many positives to take from the round. It's always important to find those positives to carry forward. I hit a couple of 3 wood shots better the ever before and a 6iron into a par 3 the best I have ever hit. I drove the ball decent with only 3 poor tee shots but unfortunately, they cost me 3 penality strokes. I finished the round with a dismal 89, but have a lot to look forward to for the up coming tournament season. Stay tuned.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"
Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.
Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
