About this blog

This blog will document my journey of playing on the Golf Channel AmTour. The highs and lows, trials and tribulations, the heartache and achievements. The AmTour is open to all levels of amateurs. This blog is also an attempt to inspire others to chase THEIR dreams no matter their age.
So with a lot of practice and some good fortune you just might see me on tv during the upcoming golf season.

"Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream"

Lyrics from Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream.

Quote from A League of Their Own
Jimmy Dugan: ... sneaking out like this, quitting, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that.
Dottie Hinson: It just got too hard.
Jimmy Dugan: It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

5th Season Opener

October is such a fantastic month for sports and the sports minded.  It represents so much of one season ending as well as a few season's beginnings.  As the baseball season comes to a close and the fall classic has my Cubbies in the World Series for the first time in 71 years, one can help but choose to believe dreams come true.  The Fall Classic as the WS is dubbed will truly be classic this year.  As with an end comes a beginning, the beginning of hockey season, basketball season, and of course a new golf season.

New Beginings

As this year's Sr National Championships at Innisbrook,  where the PGA competes in  the Valspar Championship each March, get underway Monday 9/19, I am sitting in my living room with a heavy heart missing the action.  True I love to compete, but what I miss the most is the opportunity to compete against and with my fellow golf junkies.  I miss the competition, the comradery, the stories we tell for the umpteenth time.  The laughs, the highs and lows of the season, all the crazy shots made and missed, and yes even those 1 stroke what if or only if loses.  Golf is a unique game.  It is one that is played and shared.  And only those who play can fully appreciate the emotional roller coaster competitors face.

Close of this Book Vol. 1

Once upon a time, I had grand dreams and aspirations.  Hence the purpose of this blog, to chronicle my journey.  And for those who have followed and read the blog, thank you, but as you can attest my entries have become very sporadic.  The reason for this?  Well, let's just say and chalk it up to disappointment.

First Lesson

Today was my first lesson with my new golf coach, Sammy Hanson.  I am very excited about my renewed commitment.  With the several distractors finally completed, all my focus and energy is about golf and improving my game and physical conditioning.

How to quality for PGA Champions Tour

Those of you following my blog might have actually asked the question, How do you qualify for the PGA Champions Tour?

Well, here is the answer:
1.  Apply (and send money, of course)
2.  Finish high enough in a regional qualifier, unless you are classified as an exempt from this stage.
3.  Finish in top 5 of the Open qualifier.

Easy enough? LOLOLOL

Here is the link to the details.

Renewed and Reenergized

Looking back over this blog and realizing how far I have come, it's hard to imagine it has been a year since my last posting.  The events and lessons I have learned over the past year are astounding.  And for those of you, my friends, that have been patiently waiting for updates and wondering about my progress I am here to say I sorry to have kept you in the dark for so long and I have happy to say that the events of my life which have distracted me are in the past.
I am claiming 2016 as The Year of Golf.
